Irish Mythology
Irish mythological stories are built into the psyche and soul of the Irish people.
These mythological stories go back to the most ancient of times, back to the times before people could write and their means of passing on information was to tell stories. The mythological stories can be found in the hearts and the minds throughout the collective consciousness of the Irish, throughout every province, county, parish, family and individual member of the Irish people, even throughout the world. On an intellectual level these can be divided into:
- The Mythological cycle
- The Irish cycle
- The Finn cycle
- The Patron Saints of Ireland
“There is still more it the minds of the Irish people and there are still more books to be translated”
While these constitute the intellectual gathering of stories and also the collection into different periods, there is, never the less, a great overlapping and much more yet to be discovered. These stories of the mythology, the Ulster cycle, the Finn cycle and the Saints of Ireland are retrieved at different times from Ireland’s troubled history. There is still more it the minds of the Irish people and there are still more books to be translated.
